One of the premier bars and restaurants in Windermere, located in the heart of the Lake District The Lamplighter Dining Rooms has been trading now for over 21 years. Restaurants come and go but our focus on quality and customer service has set us aside from many other Lake District Restaurants. Whether popping in for breakfast, a snack at lunch, indulging in our unique Sunday lunch experience or a full four course meal in the evening, The Lamplighter offers a great selection of not only food and beverage but also locations in which to dine to suite all tastes.
Dine in the cosy bar with the fire blazing on a cold winters evening, the high ceilinged Victorian restaurant, the stylish lounge bar or, weather permitting, outdoors on the terrace, the choice is yours. The Windermere restaurant scene has much to offer, for the very best in home-cooked locally sourced produce you simply have to try The Lamplighter Dining Rooms.
When it comes to restaurant menus in Windermere we guarantee you will make an emotional connection at our wonderful Lake District Restaurant. Recently refurbished to its former glory we have retained the Victorian features of the building whilst adding a slightly contemporary feel such as the wonderful William Morris wallpaper that stretches throughout the bar and restaurant. The Lamplighter also features outside seating on the hotels veranda or in the sunken terrace should you wish to dine alfresco or just enjoy a refreshing drink, both are wonderful suntraps and great for people watching. Previously, also known by the locals for our wonderful curries and fresh fish we have decided by popular demand to re-introduce these selections on Wednesday night and Friday night respectively.
We have also this year launched our Sunday Lunch concept, which we believe is a nationally unique product and experience and is definitely not to be found in other restaurants in Windermere and Cumbria. At the Lamplighter we feel that the British Sunday lunch is the very heart of British family life and to which everyone has an emotional connection. It is the time for families & friends to get together and share great food, wine, conversation & memories.
We have produced a menu offering the very best cuts of Lakeland meats that the area has to offer and serve this to you in the traditional style of the “Great British Sunday Lunch” – “Family Style”. The chosen cut is then served whole to your table along with the vegetable accompaniments and allows you to carve and serve yourselves. This ensures everyone gets exactly what they want whether it be Well Done beef for Granny from the end of the Sirloin or Dad’s Rare piece from the centre. You also have the guarantee that the products are delivered to you fresh and at their optimum and have not been standing for an undetermined amount of time under those hot lamps on the carvery counter.
Bookings must be made by 6pm on Friday at which time you will also have to place your order for the meat to be served to you and your guests. Please note that guests must arrive for the booked time on the day as the cuts of meat can not be cooked from scratch and therefore timing is essential. If you have any family favourites from “sherry trifle” to “Scouse”, Leg of lamb to Belly Pork please do not hesitate to ask and we will do everything possible to accommodate your request.
*A minimum two guests are requested to select each option. i.e. for a table of two you must both order the same option so that we are able to serve the meat as a joint as apposed to a cut otherwise we will not be able to roast the meat.
