The Lamplighter has been part of the fabric of Windermere since the Tasker family first opened the doors over three decades ago. What began as a commitment to honest, quality hospitality has grown into one of the most loved and enduring venues in the Lake District.
Housed in a traditional Lakeland stone building dating back to 1865, The Lamplighter wears its history well. Original features, grand fireplaces, high Victorian ceilings, large sash windows and the wonderful William Morris wallpaper that runs throughout sit alongside a warmth and character that no amount of modern refurbishment could manufacture.
Today, The Lamplighter offers a celebrated restaurant, an elegant bar and lounge, south-facing terraces and eleven beautifully appointed en-suite rooms. It is, in every sense, a proper Windermere institution.
